Neck Lift

How to stop feeling ‘bad about your neck’

Millions of us loved and laughed at the film ‘When Harry Met Sally’ (classic line from an elderly woman, after Sally ‘fakes it’ in a restaurant: ‘I’ll have what she’s having!’). The writer responsible was Nora Ephron.

But not so many people are familiar with Ephron’s books – although once discovered, especially by ‘ladies of a certain age’, they’re never forgotten.

One of them in particular, a collection of essays called ‘I Feel Bad About My Neck: And Other Thoughts on Being a Woman’, is memorable for the title essay ‘On Maintenance’. In it, Ephron wishes she could do something about the state of her sagging neck, other than having to cover up with scarves and high-necked clothing.

The good news is that help is at hand – in Upminster, where we at Aesthetics of Essex have the answer to your neck problems.

The neck is one of the first places here ageing starts to show, with skin losing elasticity, resulting in wrinkles and sagging and a loss of definition to the jaw line.

Cosmetic surgery, in the form of a neck lift, could be the answer. The process could potentially put right slack, sagging or excess skin, sun or wind-damaged skin, and excess fat under the jaw. The procedure can involve making incisions to tighten and lift the problem area through removal of excess skin and fat deposits – these can also be removed through liposuction – and even the alteration of neck muscles.

There will be a need for downtime/recovery time and the results will depend on the existing elasticity of your skin – but you can expect a more youthful, fresher look at the end of it.
