Most people can get straight back to normal activities after treatment. The treated area stays sensitive for about an hour, and any redness at the injection sites tends to settle quickly.
Anti-wrinkle injections, also called muscle-relaxing or wrinkle-relaxing injections, contain a botulinum toxin that temporarily blocks nerve signals and relaxes the small muscles behind frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet. The skin above them then softens, creating smoother skin and a younger appearance.
At Aesthetics of Essex, our proven technique delivers stunning results and is one of our most popular aesthetic procedures. In no time, you’ll feel more comfortable with your refreshed and younger-looking self.
Anti-wrinkle injections can help to reduce the appearance of:
It also prevents the formation of wrinkles and causes existing lines to soften, forming a smoother, youthful appearance.
The treatment is non-invasive with virtually no recovery time necessary; you can resume your normal activities immediately after treatment.

The muscle relaxes over several days rather than all at once, so lines soften gradually. There's no single moment where your face suddenly looks different, just a softer version of how you already look.
The same injections that soften frown lines can also ease jaw tension from grinding or reduce excessive underarm sweating, so multiple concerns can be addressed in a single session.
Every treatment is delivered by a senior nurse injector with years of experience in aesthetic medicine and facial anatomy, who also trains other doctors and nurses in the technique.
Often, the biggest fear about facial aesthetics like anti-wrinkle injections isn’t the procedure – it’s coming out looking overdone.
Debbie Mills, our senior nurse who performs anti-wrinkle treatments, has over 17 years’ experience and trains other doctors and nurses in the technique. She has treated well-known clients alongside her regular patients. Every plan is still built around your face and not a standard dose.

Each individual has a different pain threshold. You will be advised to discuss your concerns at your pre-treatment consultation. A local anaesthetic cream is sometimes used for added comfort. Most people describe it as a small sharp scratch at the injection site, and it’s over very quickly.
The results typically last approximately 3-6 months. The duration of results largely depends upon the area being treated and the products used. Other factors can also have an effect, such as skin type, lifestyle, age, and the degree of correction sought.
Both are temporary injectable treatments. Facial muscle relaxant injections are used to relax the muscles that underlie the lines which become more visible through movement and age.
Dermal filler treatments are used to fill out wrinkles that remain when the underlying muscles are relaxed and to restore skin volume and add contour to the ageing face.
A general rule of thumb is that anti-line and wrinkle injections are used for the upper face, and dermal fillers are used on the lower face.
As with any injectable treatment, there’s a small risk of side effects. These can include bruising or swelling at the injection site, a temporary drooping of the brow or eyelid, or, rarely, an allergic reaction.
Your practitioner will talk through these with you at your free consultation, along with anything in your medical history that might affect suitability. During the consultation, you will be asked to fill out a medical health questionnaire, as it is our duty of care to make sure this treatment is the correct treatment for you and your body.

Botox is one licensed brand of the injectable used in anti-wrinkle injections, alongside other licensed brands.
Because Botox is a prescription-only medicine, we can’t advertise it by name or make claims about a specific brand, which is why it’s described here as anti-wrinkle or muscle-relaxing injections.
Whichever licensed product is used, it’s prescribed and administered by a qualified nurse injector after your free consultation.
