What is a HydraFacial?

Unlike other facials, HydraFacial is performed using a specialised device that extracts impurities from deep within the pores, whilst also moisturising and exfoliating the skin. At the end of the treatment, we use LED light therapy to reduce redness and further stimulate collagen production.

During a HydraFacial treatment at Aesthetics of Essex, your skin is replenished with essential nutrients, including hyaluronic acid and antioxidants. These help to tone your face, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and support long-term skin health.

If you struggle with acne, blackheads, scarring or clogged pores, a HydraFacial could be a good option for your skin concerns. Excess oils that contribute to acne breakouts are removed, and the deep cleansing, salicylic acid and glycolic acid work together to help improve the appearance of facial scarring over time.

All of our treatments are carried out by fully qualified and experienced clinicians who know exactly what they’re doing.

What to expect during your appointment

Unlike traditional facials or chemical peels, a HydraFacial treatment involves no uncomfortable squeezing or peeling. It feels more like a light, relaxing massage.

  • A specially formulated draining technique helps increase circulation to the skin and eliminate toxins.
  • Your skin is cleansed and exfoliated, with dead skin cells and impurities gently removed for a deep cleansing result.
  • A gentle brightening agent containing a solution of glycolic and salicylic acid helps to loosen any remaining debris from your pores.
  • Blackheads are then gently extracted using honey extract and salicylic acid, using suction rather than manual squeezing, so you can see the impurities collected as you go.
  • Your skin is then plumped and hydrated with a blend of hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and peptides.
  • Finally, LED light therapy is used to stimulate collagen production and reduce any redness, leaving your skin glowing.

Redness for around an hour after treatment is common. We typically advise against wearing makeup for the rest of the day while your skin feels soft, but other than that, you can get on with your normal routine straight away.

What’s the difference between a HydraFacial and a HydraFacial Express?

HydraFacial Express follows a shorter, three-step version of the same cleanse, extract and hydrate process in around 30 minutes – it doesn’t include the LED light therapy or lymphatic drainage step. It’s the better option if you’re short on time or want a refresh between full treatments.

Why Choose Aesthetics of Essex for HydraFacial

A good facial should leave your skin feeling better than when you walked in. At Aesthetics of Essex, HydraFacial treatment sits within a wider approach to skin health, rather than being treated as a one-off pampering session.

If your skin concerns run deeper than a facial can reach, such as more stubborn scarring or texture, our team can also talk you through other options like Dermapen microneedling. So, you leave with the right plan for your unique needs.

If your skin needs some hydration and rejuvenation, book your HydraFacial today. Call any of our Upminster, Rayleigh or Maldon clinics, or get in touch online to arrange your free consultation.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Does a HydraFacial hurt?

With HydraFacial, there’s no uncomfortable squeezing or peeling involved. Most people describe it as a light massage with a gentle suction sensation as impurities are drawn from the pores.

    What does a HydraFacial treat?

    A HydraFacial can help with:

    • Tired and dull skin
    • Fine lines and wrinkles
    • Irregular pigmentation
    • Hyperpigmentation (age spots)
    • Uneven skin tone and texture
    • Oily or congested skin
    • Enlarged pores
    • Blemishes
Is a HydraFacial suitable for sensitive skin?

Because there’s no harsh scrubbing or chemical peel involved, most skin types tolerate a HydraFacial well, including sensitive skin. If you have a diagnosed skin condition or particularly reactive skin, let your practitioner know at your free consultation so your treatment can be adjusted.

Is there any downtime after a HydraFacial?

No. Aside from some redness for around an hour, you can get straight back to your normal routine. We’d just suggest leaving makeup off for the rest of the day while your skin feels soft.

How often should I have a HydraFacial?

There’s no set rule for how many HydraFacial treatments you should have. Some clients treat themselves to a one-off, while others choose to make it a part of their skincare routine. We can talk through what makes sense for your skin at your free consultation.

How much does a HydraFacial cost?

Prices start from £105 for the full treatment. See the pricing above, or ask for an exact quote at your free consultation.

Who carries out HydraFacial treatments at Aesthetics of Essex?

All HydraFacial treatments are carried out by fully qualified clinicians across our Upminster, Rayleigh and Maldon clinics.
