Gradual, natural-looking results
As Sculptra builds results over time, the outcome is a natural look that develops in the weeks following treatment, not instantly after injection.
Sculptra is a PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) based dermal filler that restores lost facial volume by stimulating collagen production, rather than adding immediate volume as traditional hyaluronic acid fillers do.
Once injected beneath the skin, PLLA encourages your fibroblast skin cells to produce more of your body’s natural collagen – the protein that gives skin its strength, support and structure.
Because your own collagen builds gradually, results develop progressively over the weeks that follow rather than appearing all at once, for a natural-looking, refreshed appearance that can last up to two years.
Sculptra was originally developed as an FDA-approved treatment in the United States, and has since become a well-established collagen-stimulating treatment across UK clinics, including here in Essex.
Sculptra isn’t recommended for the eyes or lips. If you’d like treatment in these areas, we may recommend lip fillers instead.
Your Sculptra appointment at one of our Essex clinics starts with a consultation, where one of our trained clinicians will talk through your medical history, allergies, current medications and goals, and confirm the treatment is right for you.
Sculptra is then injected using a fine 26-gauge needle, with an outer diameter of less than half a millimetre, making it a minimally invasive treatment. Anaesthetic isn’t usually required, and the whole appointment typically takes 30 to 60 minutes.
Afterwards, you may notice some mild swelling, tenderness, redness or light bruising around the injection site, but most people are straight back to their normal day.
From two days after treatment, we recommend the “5-5-5” rule: gently massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days in a row, to help the product distribute evenly.
Any questions afterwards, our team is on hand; just get in touch.

PLLA works at a structural level, triggering fibroblast cells to produce new collagen. This means skin improves progressively, not just temporarily, with results lasting up to two years.
Suitable for the cheeks, jaw, neck, décolletage, buttocks, hands and more. Most sessions take around 30 minutes, and only a few sessions are usually needed.
Sculptra is a walk-in, walk-out procedure. Most people return to normal activities on the same day, with minimal recovery downtime.
Sculptra isn’t a quick fix, and we’ll always be upfront about that. As results build as your own collagen develops, it suits people planning rather than wanting an instant visible change before a big event.
At your free consultation, we’ll talk honestly about your timeline and goals, and may even recommend a hyaluronic acid filler instead if you need to see a difference sooner.
Whichever of our three clinics you visit, you’re in the hands of a trained member of our clinical team, qualified to provide Sculptra treatment in Essex.
Your exact Sculptra plan and cost will be confirmed at your consultation. See our full price list for other treatments.
Sculptra is suitable for most people, but we’d advise against it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a known allergy to any of its ingredients, have an active skin infection, inflammation, pimples, rashes, hives or cysts, have a history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring or have an autoimmune disease.
Sculptra also isn’t recommended for the eyes or lips, so if you’d like treatment in these areas, we may recommend a different filler. Book an initial consultation and one of our trained clinicians will assess your suitability.
Yes. At your consultation, we’ll talk through your overall health, allergies, treatment goals, current medications, vitamins and supplements, and any previous cosmetic procedures.
Hiding information from your clinician can, in the worst instances, result in side effects and health risks, so it’s really not worth it.
Results typically last up to two years after a full course of injections. Many of our patients then return to maintain their results.
There’s minimal downtime. You might notice mild swelling, tenderness, redness or light bruising immediately afterwards, but most people are back to work and their normal day straight away.

Most traditional dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid to add immediate volume, whereas Sculptra works differently.
Instead of adding volume itself, its poly-L-lactic acid formula encourages your body to produce its own new collagen, so results build gradually rather than appearing straight away. These results tend to last longer, up to two years, compared with more traditional fillers.
