Non-surgical treatment
The non-surgical treatment offered at Aesthetics of Essex is Plexr – also known as FELC and plasma – a permanent alternative to blepharoplasty surgery. With no cutting or stitching required, Plexr is a medical plasma device used for eyelid correction as well as neck and face lifts.
This innovative, non-invasive technology uses fusion plasma by applying the principle of ionisation of gases contained in the air, which implements a plasma arc on the eyelid, stimulating instant contraction and tightening of skin fibres.
This leads to the skin tightening even more over the course of a few weeks. The scabs that form on the area can look brown for up to two weeks and there may be some swelling, so you may decide to take a couple of weeks off work, as you won’t be able to cover them up – although this isn’t a necessity.
After undergoing treatment, you will see immediate results, with the final results visible three to six months after the treatment. We will use a topical anaesthetic to numb the area, so you won’t feel a thing! Just a bit of sensitivity for a couple of days after and, as there will be little to no discomfort, you will be able to relax during the procedure.

Blepharoplasty surgery
As the surgical option for eyelid reduction or eye lift, this upper eyelid blepharoplasty will remove some skin from your eyelids that may have started to gather above the eyelids, causing significant folds and creases in some people.

Am I suitable?
To be considered for blepharoplasty, you need to be in good health and understand what can be achieved through this upper eyelid surgery. Typically performed on patients who are over the age of 35 – this is the age when eyelids can start to become affected by the ageing process – we can also perform the procedure on those whose eyelids are drooping due to genetics.
There are a number of things that we can do during blepharoplasty surgery:
- remove excess skin and fat from the upper eyelids – we can also perform the same on the lower eyelids if necessary
- reduce eye bags
- reduce lines and creases around the eyes
- improve peripheral vision
Who is Ricardo Tejero?
Ricardo Tejero – GMC No: 4286916 – is a highly-qualified plastic reconstruction surgeon who specialises in intricate hand surgery. He has spent many years working in the NHS and some of the most distinguished UK-based hospitals, including Guys & Thomas’, Chelsea & Westminster, Countess of Chester and University Hospital Birmingham, to name a few.
Due to his specialism, Ricardo displays extreme levels of accuracy and a steady hand, so he truly is the best at creating a beautiful eyelid reduction – you could simply not be in safer hands!
What can I expect?
Check out our blog on Blepharoplasty 101 – what to expect, but basically it involves a small incision being made along the natural crease of the eyelid and excess skin and fat being removed from the eyelid. Then you will have stitches that will be removed five days later.
The upper eyelid blepharoplasty is performed either under local anaesthetic – with sedation – or general anaesthetic, so the procedure itself will be completely pain-free. As with any surgery, you may experience some swelling, bruising and irritation post-treatment, but this can be treated with eye drops, ice packs and painkillers, should they be required.
How much does an eyelid reduction cost?
The cost of the blepharoplasty will depend on the extent of the eyelids to be removed, but we charge approximately £1850 for an upper eye lift and £2200 for an upper eye and brow lift.
