Colonic Irrigation Rayleigh

Colonic Irrigation Rayleigh

Colonic irrigation – otherwise known as colon therapy or colon cleansing – aims to eliminate toxins from the colon and intestines by removing accumulations of faeces from the body.

A practice that has been around since ancient times, colonic irrigation has always been seen as a key element of overall good health.

We provide colonic irrigation at our Upminster and Rayleigh clinic, which introduces warm and purified water into the large intestine to cleanse the colon and remove waste. Led by a qualified colon hydrotherapist, you will be closely monitored during the session, to ensure your ongoing comfort.

What’s involved?

Prior to colonic irrigation, our consultants will sit and have a chat with you, covering your medical history and talking through your realistic expectations of the colon cleanse.

At the beginning of the colonic irrigation, between 10 – 30 gallons of water will be fed into the colon via a tube in the rectum before toxins are expelled through the same tube. Whilst the water is doing its work, you can lie down and relax on the treatment couch and take advantage of some light massage or warm infrared therapy – to ensure you’re as relaxed as possible.

The detox process starts as soon as the treatment is complete. You may need to use the toilet straightway, but this isn’t the same for everyone. Some people report to feeling a burst of energy, whereas others experience headaches.

However you feel afterwards, you can be assured that the detox process is working for you. Before you leave, the hydrotherapist can sit down with you again and set out a plan for you, such as diet or lifestyle changes, as well as booking some further sessions – a series of treatments will show you just how beneficial colonic irrigation can be for you.

You will also be encouraged to drink lots of water and take some probiotics to help support your gut. Probiotics – often described as good or friendly bacteria – are thought to help restore the natural balance of bacteria in the gut, including the stomach and intestines.

If you’re still undecided as to whether you would like colonic irrigation, then let’s take a closer look at the benefits of the procedure.

Benefits of colonic irrigation

Practitioners believe there are a number of rewards to be had from colonic irrigation:

  • Improved digestion

We usually don’t think about the billions of beneficial bacteria – or microflora – that are present in the colon and which help you eliminate waste. As well as helping to expel faecal matter from the body, it also ensures proper nutrition absorption, controls hunger levels, and keeps the pH level balanced.

Poor gut health, chronic allergies and consumption of harmful chemicals – found in the environment – can, over time, negatively affect the microflora. This can result in constipation, abdominal cramping, low energy levels, headaches and irritability.

  • Increased energy levels

When your bowel starts to become a little backed up, the faecal matter collects and solidifies along the walls of the colon, which means the body needs to work harder to expend more energy to move solid waste.

As a result of becoming less efficient at eliminating waste, bad bacteria is allowed to thrive and there is a build-up of toxins in the colon, all of which drain your body of energy. This leads you to become more tired, sluggish and unproductive – even if you’ve had a good night’s sleep.

  • Lifts brain fog

Your gut and brain are connected through millions of nerves, most importantly the vagus nerve, which sends signals in both directions. There are also trillions of microbes that live in your gut, along with other chemicals that affect how your brain works.

If your colon is packed with faecal matter and you are feeling sluggish, this is far more likely to cause brain fog – or lack of concentration – as well as anxiety, hormonal imbalances and sleep difficulties.

  • Weight loss

If you’re watching your weight and exercising regularly, but you still can’t seem to shift the weight, then it could be down to your colon. The colon can hold as many as eight meals – equating to up to 10 pounds of faecal matter!

Whilst it’s completely normal for the colon to store some weight while the matter is waiting to be expelled, certain factors can lead to increased waste storage, including the addition of a thick mucus, that lines the walls of the colon.

  • Aids with bloating, colitis, constipation and indigestion

Constipation is estimated to affect one in seven people – and one in three children – in the UK. When faecal matter stays in the system far longer than it should, not only do you experience bloating, but the toxins can enter your bloodstream and cause headaches and irritability.

Undertaking colonic irrigation in Rayleigh will ensure your colon is as healthy as it can possibly be.
