Tired of shaving, waxing and plucking every day? Worry no more with Laser Hair Removal!
At Aesthetics of Essex, our pain-free laser hair removal machine is specifically designed to remove unwanted hair, fast and comfortably. It is important to remember that nothing in this world is permanent hair removal as blood makes your hair grow! As long as you have blood pumping through your body you are always going to have a form of hair growth. Laser permanently reduces hair growth, with up to a 90% reduction of hair growth – amazing right?
Laser hair removal is becoming increasing popular with both men and women as it is the safest, most effective and fastest long term solution for hair reduction.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Although you can see up to a 20% reduction from one session alone, you will need 6 – 8 sessions to achieve a 90% reduction in hair growth.
Am I Suitable For This Treatment?
Do you have brown/ black hair? Is your hair medium to thick in density? If so then YES!
*Please note other factors such as medication do impact on you being a suitable client but this will be discussed at consultation*
How Does Laser Actually Work?
Lasers emit energy in the form of light and the laser heats up the hair follicle.
The light from the laser is then attracted to and absorbed by melanin, the pigment in your hair.
The heat travels down the hair before destroying the root and connections to the blood supply, therefore preventing the growth of further hair.
The treatment provided by Aesthetics of Essex only targets the structures of the hair and follicle the surrounding tissue is left undamaged.
How Will I Feel After Treatment?
The great advantage of having Soprano laser hair removal is that there is virtually no downtime! You should expect to have mild erythema (reddening) to the treatment area and for it to feel like a very mild sunburn.
Do I Need to Grow My Hair Out?
In preparation for your laser hair removal at Aesthetics of Essex, we recommend that you stop waxing, plucking or removing your hair from the root around 5 weeks before your scheduled treatment. You must shave 24 hours prior to your treatment. There is to be no hair on the surface of the skin during your treatments but there must be hair in the root for the last to pick up. *Please attend your consultation with hair in the treatment area*
How much does laser hair removal cost?

What is the Hair Growth Cycle?
The growth of Human Hair occurs near enough everywhere on the body.
Hair grows from the follicle, or root, underneath the skin. The hair is “fed” by blood vessels at the base of the follicle, which gives it the nourishment it needs to grow.
Each hair passes through four stages, which are; Anagen, Catagen, Telogen and Exogen. Every hair is at a different stage of the growth cycle.
Stage 1: Anagen (Growing Phase)
The Anagen Phase is known as the growing phase. It begins with the papilla and it determines the length of the hair.
During this phase the cells in the papilla divide to produce new hair fibres and the follicle buries itself into the dermal layer of the skin to nourish the strand.
Stage 2: Catagen (Transition Phase)
The Catagen Phase is known as the transitional stage that lasts about ten days. The hair follicle shrinks and detaches from the dermal papilla.
Stage 3: Telogen (Resting Phase)
The Telogen Phase is known as the resting phase. Whilst the old hair is resting, below a new hair begins the growth phase in replacement of the previous hair strand.
Stage 4: Exogen (New Hair Phase)
The Exogen Phase is known as the part of the resting phase where the old hair sheds, or you shave/wax/pluck the hair you can see on the surface of the skin, and new hair slightly underneath still continues to grow.
What happens during my laser hair removal procedure?
Before your treatment, any hair that is too long will be trimmed shorter, and strength of the laser will be adjusted to the setting required. This will depend on the colour, thickness and location of the hair being treated as well as your skin colour.
The technician will give a pulse of light to the treatment area and watch the area for several minutes to make sure the best settings are used and to check for bad reactions.
Eye protection may be required for you and your technician during your treatment. However this will depend on the strength the laser is set to. A cold gel may also be applied in sensitive areas for extra protection and to help the laser light penetrate the skin.
Once the procedure is complete, your technician may recommend an anti-inflammatory cream or cold water to take away any discomfort. You can then schedule your next treatment four to six weeks later.
Treatments will continue until hair stops growing in the treated area.
Please be aware: Laser hair removal is more than just zapping away unwanted hair. It is a medical procedure that requires training to perform.
This treatment is carried out by our fully qualified Aesthetic Practitioners who have been specially trained in performing laser hair removal treatments.
What are the benefits of laser hair removal?
The benefits of laser hair removal include:
- Speed – Each pulse of the laser takes a fraction of a second and can effectively treat multiple hairs at once.
- Precision – Laser hair removal can target dark, coarse hairs without damaging the surrounding skin.
- Predictability – 90% of patients have hair loss after an average of three to five sessions.
- Confidence – All unwanted or excessive hair is removed, and with proven results of hair removal – with long term treatment – you won’t have to worry about maintenance!
Does laser hair removal remove my hair permanently?
Sometimes laser hair removal can remove your hair permanently, but if that isn’t the case for you, it will significantly reduce the growth. The majority of people experience hair removal that can last several months, but when hair does regrow, you can have maintenance laser treatments. This will ensure long-term hair reduction.
Following each hair removal session, the speed at which your hair will grow, will reduce in the area that has been treated by the laser hair removal. It will take longer to grow back each time and, if you continue treatments, the hair can stop growing for some people.
Is hair removal suitable for people with fair hair?
Laser hair removal is more suitable for people who have a darker pigment in their hair, as the laser targets the melanin – the type of pigment that provides the hair with colour. So the darker the hair, the more effective laser hair treatment will be.
Therefore, if you have very blond or grey hair, then laser hair removal will not be as effective than if you had darker pigment. Also, if you are undergoing any kind of hormone treatment, this can affect the efficacy of the hair removal.
Can laser hair removal be used on all parts of the body?
Absolutely! Anywhere you have unwanted body hair, laser hair removal can be performed. So this includes underarms, arms, legs, bikini and face. Wherever laser hair removal treatment is carried out, you can expect that your skin will be silky smooth with an improved appearance.
It is important to us that all our clients feel safe and in good hands when they come to Aesthetics of Essex.
